I recently received some comments regarding my previous post entitled “The Four Pillars of Open Pedagogy”. These were interesting to note, especially since the majority of the comments agreed with my thoughts on the importance of open pedagogy. First, there really was an apparent economic divide caused by the use of textbooks in general. Whether these are digital or physical, students who are not able to purchase such materials still have no access to learning materials. Second, access and equity are the main considerations of open pedagogy. In fact, these two can be considered as the main elements of open pedagogy. If an open pedagogical approach fails to achieve more access and equity, then its value is quite doubtful.
